Words are pretty alright. I fell in love with songwriting when I began dissecting lyrics and seeing how artists play with words to make plays on words. I find it incredibly interesting to analyze how lyricists creatively convey their stories through music. Whether it's a fictional story, a life lesson, words of encouragement, deep truths, or a reality-shattering commentary on the things we perceive as "normal," music has and always will be my biggest source of inspiration. It's fun to evoke emotion and feeling through words.
I enjoy copywriting because now I have the opportunity to evoke emotion and feeling through my words. My words are making an impact on people. That's pretty alright.
Went digging through my digital music crates to compile a little mix of songs to help you GTKMTM (get to know me through music).
1. Driver's Seat - Sniff 'n' the Tears
"There is no elite. Just take your place in the driver's seat."
2. Free - The Martinis
I like to believe that I am... at least for the moment, anyways.
3. You Learn - Alanis Morissette
I recommend what Alanis recommends. Put yourself in uncomfortable situations just to see how you will react. No matter what happens, you live and you learn.
4. I Won't Back Down - Tom Petty
"There ain't no easy way out!" Don't get pushed around. Stand your ground. Don't back down.
5. Float On - Modest Mouse
I originally picked this song for its message about perseverance. When grabbing lunch with a friend, I decided to show him this mix. After showing him, this song coincidentally played in the restaurant we were at. I took this as a sign that I had made the right choice to include it.
6. Peace of Mind - Boston
"I understand about indecision, but I don't care if I get behind. People living in competition - all I want is to have my peace of mind."
7. 11:59 - Blondie
11:59 represents wanting the day to never end because you yearn for now. Today can last another million years.
8. Unwritten - Natasha Bedingfield
Hell yeah.
